India-Nepal Parliamentary Dialogue


FICCI’s first India-Nepal Parliamentary Dialogue was launched on March 3, 2012, at FICCI premises. A twelve member all party delegation of parliamentarians from Nepal interacted with Members of Parliament from various parties in India. The day long dialogue was divided into four sessions with issues ranging from bilateral relations to democratic transition in Nepal being discussed.

India-Afghanistan Parliamentary Dialogue


The first meeting of the institutionalised India–Afghanistan Parliamentary Dialogue was held from May 9-May 13, 2012 in New Delhi, India. Over five days, the visiting Afghan parliamentary delegation met their counterparts, a group of Indian members of parliament, participated in a separate working lunch with five ministers of the government of India, visited the Lok Sabha, the lower house in the Indian Parliament, met the Foreign Secretary of India, Mr Ranjan Mathai, met the Indian business community along with then Commerce Secretary Rahul Khullar as well as informally met Indian Journalists and members of India’s civil society over dinner.

India-Pakistan Parliamentary Dialogue


The first meeting of the institutionalised FICCI’s India–Pakistan Parliamentary Dialogue was held from April 1-April 5, 2012 in Amritsar and New Delhi, India. The visiting Pakistani parliamentary delegation had a packed five-day visit which included meetings with ministers of Government of Punjab in Amritsar, Indian parliamentarians, a meeting with Hon’ble Minister for Commerce Industry and Textiles, Shri Anand Sharma along with the Indian business community and a dinner meeting with Indian journalists and members of the civil society in New Delhi.

India-Bangladesh Parliamentary Dialogue


The first India-Bangladesh Parliamentary Dialogue organized by FICCI was held from November 29 to December 3, 2012 in New Delhi and Guwahati. As a part of this political Track Two dialogue, a group of twelve eminent Members of Parliament from Bangladesh led by Mr Tofail Ahmed (Awami League) and Barrister Moudud Ahmed (Bangladesh Nationalist Party) visited India and interacted with the Parliamentarians form India, other senior government officials and members of civil society and media.

India-Sri Lanka Parliamentary Dialogue


A five-member multiparty delegation of Members of Parliament from India visited Sri Lanka from April 8-12, 2013 to participate in the first India-Sri Lanka Parliamentary Dialogue organized by FICCI. The delegation consisted of Shri Saugata Roy (Trinamool Congress), Shri Prakash Javadekar (BJP), Shri Sandeep Dikshit (Congress), Shri Anurag Thakur (BJP) and Shri Dhananjay Singh (BSP). During their 72- hour stay in Sri Lanka, the MPs participated in numerous meetings in Colombo and Jaffna, to get a first-hand experience of the on-ground situation and realities in the post-war Northern Province of Sri Lanka. FICCI’s parliamentary visit to Sri Lanka saw many firsts: This was the first, ever, exclusively political Track Two dialogue undertaken by any Indian organization or think-tank to Sri Lanka. This was the first visit being undertaken by Indian parliamentarians to Sri Lanka in the last one year. And certainly, this was the first parliamentary delegation to visit Sri Lanka after India voted against Sri Lanka at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.

Other Forums


India-US Forum of Parliamentarians (IUPF)


The India-US Forum of Parliamentarians (IUPF), constituted eleven years ago along the lines of the “India Caucus” and “Senate Friends of India” Group in the US Congress, provides an important platform to the Indian Parliamentarians to develop and strengthen India-US relations through Track II initiatives. Encompassing all aspects of bilateral relations, the Forum makes an earnest effort to facilitate wider exchange of views, dialogue and discussions on bilateral and global issues between Indian parliamentarians and their counterparts in the US, senior Administration officials, business leaders, opinion-makers and the Indian-American community, thereby adding an important parliamentary dimension to bilateral ties. The IUFP was launched on March 27, 2002. Currently, the IUFP is chaired by Mr. B J Panda (a prominent member of the Biju Janata Dal from Orissa).

India-European Union Forum of Parliamentarians


The India-European Union Forum of Parliamentarians (INEUFP), constituted in April 2005, provides an important platform to Indian Parliamentarians to develop and strengthen India-EU relations through Track II initiatives.The Forum is currently chaired by Mr. Madhu Goud Yaskhi, Lok Sabha MP from Andhra Pradesh.The Forum makes an earnest effort to facilitate wider exchange of views, dialogue and discussions on bilateral and global issues between Indian parliamentarians and their counterparts in the EU, senior government officials, business leaders and opinion-makers thereby adding an important parliamentary dimension to bilateral ties.

India–Germany Forum of Parliamentarians


The India-Germany Forum of Parliamentarians (INGPF), constituted on February 25, 2003 provides an important platform for Parliamentarians from India and Germany to strengthen and develop India-Germany relationship through the informal Track II initiatives. Given the vast potential of bilateral partnership and cooperation in the field of economy, culture, science and technology, India and Germany today are poised for a new beginning as they consolidate on areas of cooperation and at the same time take up initiatives to accelerate bilateral exchanges, work towards identifying and eliminating hurdles and look for strategies that would foster better understanding between our two countries.
