While the entire country is plagued by Corona, the Government of Uttar Pradesh is constantly making efforts for fast development of the state even in the time of this crisis. The government’s focus is entirely on the youth, women, farmers, poor, entrepreneurs-handicraftsmen. The government is ready for their development even in this period. In such a situation, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given the gift of ‘virtual market’ to the small entrepreneurs handicrafts troubled by sluggish market. At the online ODOP fair, the products of the entrepreneurs are coming with the buyers from the seven seashores along with the local consumers. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday formally inaugurated the country’s first ‘ODOP Virtual Fair’. The five-day virtual fair was inaugurated by virtual participation from FICCI President Sangeeta Reddy and various representatives of India including industry and abroad, including Gayatri Kumar, India’s High Commissioner to the UK.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Yogi said that Uttar Pradesh is a state of great potential. Some products in every district are recognized there. A scheme like One District-One Product (ODOP) is an attempt to give a global platform to these specialties. Bhadohi’s carpet, Varanasi’s saree, Lucknow’s chikankari, Moradabad’s brass industry, Aligarh’s hardware, Gorakhpur’s Terracotta all have their own specialties including 75 districts. It is our commitment to fill the happiness and dreams of the lives of the craftsmen and entrepreneurs here. Yogi also praised the cooperation being received from FICCI for the purpose of development of craftsmen and entrepreneurs and to encourage investment in the state.
The Chief Minister said that during the Kovid period, the Central and State Government have made several efforts to encourage small entrepreneurs and handicraftsmen. Their business continues uninterrupted, with a virtual fair being organized for this purpose. This innovative effort will certainly be useful to the craftsmen.
The Chief Minister said that a District-One Product (ODOP) scheme of Uttar Pradesh was also appreciated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and described as exemplary for other states. This is encouraging for us. During this, the Chief Minister also spoke to Varanasi entrepreneur Shailaja Arora and Agra’s Anurag Mittal. Both the entrepreneurs said that with the help of loans available on easy terms from ODOP scheme, we have become technically competent. This has led to a qualitative improvement in both product and production.
